The Opportunity...

The Finance teams at SH are a group of experienced, insightful, interesting and analytically-minded experts who make it easy for the rest of us to understand the daily operations of the hotel and its financial impacts. It’s a team that role models the word, and one that’s a joy to lead.  We’re currently seeking a Director of Finance to join our Executive team at 1 Hotel Toronto to oversee the overall financial health of the hotel. Needless to say, it’s a hugely important role that requires meticulous analysis, insightful planning, and a sharp ability to identify and resolve discrepancies with lightning-fast solutions. You’ll also manage account balancing, ledger reconciliation, and financial report execution. Finally, you’re a natural people person who’s always eager to collaborate, hear new ideas and advocate for the brand.

About you...

  • Passionate about Finance and a minimum of 8 years of similar work experience, preferably within a hotel environment. 
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll, a strong leader and a proven track record in guest and team member engagement and financial performance. 
  • Creates a path for successful financial operations and ensures the security of assets owned by the company.
  • Plays a vital role in setting benchmarks for profitability and maintaining financial stability of the company.
  • Oversees a team of four that is responsible for receivables, payables, credits, payroll, cash handling, and purchasing and receiving. 
  • Implements and maintains acceptable accounting principles and procedures whilst adapting to local conditions. 
  • Responsible for reviewing, reconciling and approving all accounts on a regular basis.
  • Creates annual budgets, cost reports and savings analyses for department heads and managers.
  • Focuses on and analyze market KPI's and trends to determine needs for effective operations. Ensuring maximum profitability and maximum utilization of resources. 
  • Analyzes capital intensive projects to determine viability and continuity; securing ROI's and profitability.
  • Consolidates supply chain, inventory management and revenue streams for efficient cost management and maximized profitability. 
  • Acts as a keyholder for all processes including credit forwarding, collection, remittances and deposits. 
  • Excels at communication, both verbal and written. 
  • Is flexible and willing to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.
